Melville Cove Road Work
Reconstruction and paving of the Purcell's Cove and Herring Cove highways will be the costliest road building job ever undertaken in Nova Scotia. Workmen are shown at top {this photo} in the Melville Cove area, where some 20 houses have to be removed. The house shown at bottom is being removed to make way for widening of the highway near the arm bridge. Sub-grading of the two highways will be completed this year. Paving will not get under way until 1952.
