Long Lake Provincial Park located in Spryfield, off of Old Sambro road is the largest park in the city. Most of the park is undeveloped but in 2016 Polycorp a local developer agreed to build trails in the park using excess materials from land clearing across the highway from the park.
The province had no plans to develop this untouched park but agreed as long as there was a community group to oversee the development and maintain the developed part of the park.
Long Lake Provincial Park Association which was formed in the 1980’s to create a management plan for the park, were handed the task. The Association recruited a group of volunteers who became board members and members of the association . The board and members currently (2024) care for the trails, washroom, parking lots and kayak launch area.
There are 5 klms of groomed trails that run from the main parking lot on Dunbrack street around Witherod Lake, and to the kayak launch on Old Sambro road.
